Kyoto AI Innovation Lab - Autumn 2026
The Kyoto AI Innovation Lab is a 2-month entrepreneurship program bringing together students from universities across Kyoto and Minerva University to build AI-enabled solutions to real challenges facing Kyoto's communities, industries, and institutions. Working in cross-cultural teams of four (2 Kyoto / 2 Minerva), participants will conduct local stakeholder research, build AI-enabled prototypes, and develop implementation models culminating.
Recommended for: Those who are engaging with issues facing Kyoto through club activities or research; those seeking opportunities to bridge the gap between research and society; those interested in developing business models utilising AI; and those who wish to take on the challenge of working on projects in collaboration with students from a variety of backgrounds.

Kyoto AI イノベーションラボは、京都の学生とミネルバ大学の学生が2ヶ月間共同で実施する実践型プログラムです。京都の地域社会や産業が直面している課題に対して、AIを活用したソリューションを構築することを目指します。参加者は、京都の学生2名とミネルヴァ大学の学生2名からなる4人1組のチームを組みます。プロジェクト期間中、地域のニーズを調査・ステークホルダーとの連携・仮説を検証・ソフトウェアベースのプロトタイプの構築などをチームごとに実施しながら、最終プレゼンテーションではリサーチを基にしたビジネスモデルを提案します。
サークル活動や研究で京都の課題に触れている方、研究と社会の接続の機会を求めている方、AIを活用したビジネスモデルの構築に関心のある方、様々なバックグラウンドを持つ学生ととコラボレーションしながらプロジェクトを進めることにチャレンジしたい方...みなさんの応募をお待ちしています。

We will conduct a selection process based on the information provided. Depending on the details of your application, we may arrange an interview with you. The selection results will be sent to you by late September.

What All Applicants Need / 応募するみなさんに求めること
  • Students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a university in Kyoto. / 京都の大学・大学院に在籍する学生であること。（学部・学年不問）
  • Strong problem-solving, curiosity, and critical-thinking skills. / 優れた問題解決能力、探究心、およびクリティカルシンキングのスキル。
  • Interest in entrepreneurship, innovation, AI, or the future of Kyoto. / 起業、イノベーション、AI、京都の未来を考えることに関心があること。
  • Reliability and the ability to contribute approximately 4-5 hours each week. / 2026年9月末〜11月末の期間中、週4〜5時間程度の活動時間を確保できること。
  • Willingness to communicate in English and work constructively in a cross-cultural, interdisciplinary team. Perfect English is not required. / 英語でのコミュニケーションやチームワークに意欲があること。高度な英語力は必須ではありません。
*Important Note:On November 7, November 25, and November 26, full-day in-person workshops and presentations will be held in Kyoto. Please ensure your availability on these key dates as much as possible. Exact times and location details will be shared once finalized.
*11/7, 11/25, 11/26は、終日、本プログラムのワーク・プレゼンテーションを京都市内で実施します。可能な限り参加できるように予定を確保してください。詳細の実施時間は決まり次第お知らせします。
